so you probably already know about the statement from anonymous/lulzsec regarding recent arrests of alleged hackers, but seriously, the quotes from chabinsky in the cited article from Muslim Brotherhood supporting NPR were kind of asking for it:
“There has not been a large-scale trend toward using hacking to actually destroy websites, [but] that could be appealing to both criminals or terrorists,” Chabinsky said. “That’s where the ‘hacktivism,’ even if currently viewed by some as a nuisance, shows the potential to be destabilizing.”
this kind of fear-mongering not only betrays both a fundamental misunderstanding by the FBI regarding the intents of their targets and the dynamics of the space they’re seeking to control, but the potential for billions more in wasted money on a misguided “war.”
